  • Certification Requires Completion Of Phase 1 / Licensing Requires Completion of Phases 1 & 2

    Procedures & Requirements

    Upon completion of Phase I requirements, subsequent review and acceptance, the candidate will qualify to receive:

    • A Certified Temperament Counselor certificate and
    • A Clinical Member (non-clergy) or Professional Clinical Member (clergy) certificate, membership card and lapel pin.

    Upon completion of Phase II requirements, subsequent review and acceptance, the candidate will qualify to receive:

    • Certified Pastoral Counselor (high-school diploma, GED or Associates)
    • Licensed Pastoral Counselor (holds a Bachelors)
    • Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor (holds a Masters)
    • Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor-Advanced Certified (holds a Doctorate)

    Certified Temperament Pastoral Counselor (Optional) (additional fee applies) Available also if the laws of your state prohibit the use of term pastoral license.

  • Phase 1

    A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required

    Each candidate must complete the following 5 courses:

    1. Basic Christian Counseling
    2. Temperament Theory
    3. Testing/Measurements
    4. Temperament Therapy
    5. Christian Counseling: Integrating Temperament and Psychology

    There are additional requirements, which will include a Practicum Phase.

    Phase 2

    Each candidate must complete the following 3 courses:

    1. Mastering Pastoral Counseling Utilizing Temperament
    2. Temperament Case Studies
    3. Counseling the Codependent

    There are additional requirements, which will include a Practicum Phase.

  • Program 1 - Additional Information

    NCCA Christian Counseling Certification

    Program One provides NCCA certification as a Christian Counselor. This program is designed for ministers and other ordained clergy who primarily need training and an NCCA certification without additional degrees. This program is also popular with counselors who already have their Christian counseling degrees or other psychology, social work and mental health degrees. No new Christian counseling degree is conferred.

    Completion of Program 1 provides the following designations:

    • Certified Pastoral Counselor for individual without a degree.
    • Christian / Pastoral Counselor for those who hold a Bachelors Degree
    • Clinical Christian / Pastoral Counselor for those holding a Master’s degree
    • Clinical Christian / Pastoral Counselor – Advanced Certification – for those holding a Doctorate
